Terms of Service

Last updated: 9 July 2026. gankdat ("we", "us") is operated from the United Kingdom by its operator. Contact: info@gankdat.com.

1. The agreement

gankdat provides programmatic access to public datasets, normalized into one clean JSON schema and served via a REST API, an MCP endpoint for AI agents, and pay-per-request endpoints. By creating an account, creating an API key, or using the API — including via an AI agent acting for you — you agree to these terms. The service is intended for business and professional use.

2. Accounts & API keys

3. Free tier & fair use

The free tier provides a limited monthly request allowance per account for evaluation and light use. Creating multiple accounts to multiply free allowances is not permitted. We may adjust free-tier limits over time.

4. Paid plans & billing

5. Refunds

If something is wrong — an outage, a billing mistake, a plan that didn't do what we said — email info@gankdat.com within 14 days and we will put it right, including refunds where appropriate. We don't refund simply for unused allowance. Nothing in these terms reduces rights you have by law.

6. Pay-per-request (x402)

Endpoints under /x402/ accept per-request payment in USDC on the Base network, with no account required. A payment is complete when it settles on-chain; settled payments are non-refundable (we could not identify the payer to refund them). The response to a paid request is delivered at the time of settlement.

7. Your use of the data — per-dataset licences

Each dataset in the catalog carries its own source licence and personal-data posture, set out in this table. If a dataset ever lacks an entry here, the defaults apply: Open Government Licence v3 and Blind Mode.

DatasetSourceLicencePersonal data

Conditions: use only for compliance, due-diligence, risk, research, or journalistic purposes; results are a screening aid, not legal advice — verify matches against SAM.gov before acting.

Rules that apply to every dataset:

8. Data disclaimer

Data is normalized and cached from official feeds and provided "as is". We do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, or timeliness (each response carries a last_refreshed_at timestamp), and nothing served by the API is legal, financial, or professional advice. For decisions that matter, verify against the official source.

9. Acceptable use

10. Availability & changes to the service

We aim for high availability but offer no formal SLA at this stage; the service may be interrupted or updated. Datasets may be added to the catalog, and we may modify or retire a dataset — where a retirement affects paying customers we will give reasonable notice.

11. Intellectual property

The platform — API, software, normalization logic, schema, and documentation — is ours. The underlying government data remains Crown copyright under the OGL. Your applications are yours.

12. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law: the service is provided without warranties; we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or decisions made in reliance on the data; and our total liability arising from the service in any 12-month period is capped at the fees you paid us in that period (or £100 if you paid none). Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

13. Suspension & termination

You may stop using the service and cancel at any time. We may suspend or revoke keys, or terminate accounts, for breach of these terms, abuse, or non-payment — where practical we will warn you first. Sections that by nature survive (data licence obligations, liability, governing law) survive termination.

14. General

These terms are the whole agreement between us about the service. If part of them is found unenforceable, the rest stands. We may assign this agreement to a successor operator of the service (for example, a company formed to run it); you will be notified and your service is unaffected. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction — except that nothing prevents either of us relying on mandatory consumer protections where they apply.

16. Changes & contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new date and, for account holders, notified by email when they matter. Continued use after a change takes effect is acceptance. Questions: info@gankdat.com.
